Pattaya city holds small Chinese New Year ceremony to mark the holiday

Pattaya-

A small Chinese New Year ceremony was held at the Pattaya City Hall this morning (February 12th) where the Pattaya City Mayor gave gifts to locals and his staff for the Chinese New Year.

The Chinese New Year ceremony was held at the Pattaya City Hall and was led by the Pattaya City Mayor Sonthaya Khunplume.

The activities this morning included worshiping from Thai- Chinese residents and blessing ceremonies to their ancestors. Pattaya has a significant Thai-Chinese community especially in Naklua.

Joining in the ceremony was a festive lion and dragon dance as well. The Pattaya City Mayor also gave red envelopes to local residents and his staff which traditionally helps keep away evil spirits and provides good luck for the next year.

The Mayor told The Pattaya News, “I wish everyone in Pattaya along with any tourists who are visiting Pattaya great health and happiness.”
