RECAP: Thailand discovers 191 domestic infections with one additional death in past 24 hours

Thailand reported 191 domestic infections among 198 new Covid-19 Coronavirus cases with one death in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration announced this morning, January 24.

The 73rd death was a 73-year-old Thai woman from Samut Sakhon with congenital diseases of high blood pressure, dementia, and epilepsy. She was reportedly in close contact with a Covid-19 infected family member and started to feel unwell on January 4th.

The deceased then sought a Covid-19 test at Samut Sakhon hospital on January 7th and proved positive on January 9th before being admitted and isolated at the hospital.

She was being transferred to Tak Sin hospital on January 20th as her breathing condition was slightly improved but still was suffering from a lot of mucus production. She was reportedly having heart failure and eventually pronounced dead at midnight on January 23rd.

Regarding today’s number of domestic cases, 188 infections were discovered in Samut Sakhon with 76, Bangkok 21, Samut Prakan 12, Samut Songkram 7, Nonthaburi 1, and Ratchaburi 1.

The other 73 patients are found during active case findings by provincial public health officials, with a vast majority in Samut Sakhon (72) and one in Rayong. They are both Thai and migrant workers and are now at state quarantine with no exposure to the general population.

A total of 119 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now had a total of 13,500 cases with 10,567 recoveries since the start of the pandemic.
