Naklua New Market, Pattaya-
The Pattaya City Mayor, Sonthaya Khunpluem, visited the Naklua New Market tonight to encourage local residents to help support local business during the difficult Covid19 situation in Chonburi.
Chonburi is currently designated as a highly controlled zone and requires permission from officials to enter or exit, bringing domestic tourism to nearly nothing. Many businesses have been closed entirely due to regulations enacted around controlling the Covid-19 virus. However, even business that can legally open has stated that things are very quiet and are struggling.
The Pattaya City Mayor and several City Hall members visited the Naklua New Market this evening and stated that they were pleased with the safety measures such as temperature checks, mask wearing, hand sanitizer and social distancing. However, the real reason the Mayor visited was to go shopping and encourage others to do the same and support local business. The Mayor also wanted to show that he felt confident enough with the measures to visit himself and feel safe.
The Mayor purchased several drinks and meals and thanked vendors for their hard work fighting Covid-19. The Mayor also said that he and the provincial leadership were fighting to get the situation under control so that the many closed businesses could reopen as soon as possible, knowing how painful the current situation was to Pattaya.
Banglamung recorded six cases of Covid-19 today the Pattaya News notes. The majority of cases have come from Si Racha.
