Koh Lan’s local committee resolves to close island to non residents starting tomorrow until at least January 20th, list of rules

Ko Larn, Pattaya, Banglamung, Chonburi-

The Ko Lan Covid-19 Volunteer Committee has decided to close the island to non-residents starting tomorrow, January 5th, until at least January 20th. It is important to note, however, that the Governor has not issued an official order on this which is generally just a formal step of the process.

This follows the ticket booth for visiting Ko Lan appearing on a timeline for confirmed Covid-19 positive cases on a release from the Chonburi Public Health department yesterday, January 3rd, 2021.

Early reports from non-residents on the island have stated they are being asked to leave effective today, January 4th, 2021.

The committee has also released a series of rules for local residents on the island, this does NOT apply to Pattaya or other islands in the area, only Koh Lan.

Those rules are: All hotels, resorts, guest houses, and other areas are to remove non-residents today, January 4th, and may not accept non-residents for stay until the situation is resolved.

Non-residents leaving the island must ensure they contact the island committee if they test positive for Covid-19.

Local residents may not travel or leave the island and there will be 100% access control. (Unless there is an emergency.)

There will be a screening point at Bali Hai Pier for both Covid-19 health measures and to ensure that only residents are entering the island.

If there is someone who is not a resident of the island, such as a delivery person, who feels they should be able to enter the island they need to request at the Port Authority at Bali Hai Pier.

-Koh Larn authorities are asking (not ordering) people to consider staying only at home.

-All gatherings on banned on the island.

-There will be an advisory against people leaving the home (Thailand dislikes the word “curfew” at an official level) from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM. (Special exceptions may be given for fishermen who depend on leaving and being out at this hour.)

-No lottery sellers or vendors from the Pattaya area will be allowed during this period.

-Packages and letters for residents must be sanitized and cleaned at the Port Authority office.

-All speedboat and ferry services to Koh Lan are halted during this period.

-Restaurants on Koh Lan (NOT PATTAYA) are take away only, with no dine-in service.

-A daily food delivery boat is prohibited from bringing passengers.

-All foreign worker movement is prohibited. It is unclear, but looks likely, that foreigners who have a business on the island but are not residents may be asked to leave. We suggest speaking directly to the Koh Lan Committee Office at the Port Authority at Bali Hai if this is you to get more information from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. daily.

-This is on top of all Chonburi province announcements.

We also want to remind readers that although the Koh Larn Committee has the jurisdiction to make decisions for their island a final order from the Governor, mostly just a formality at this point, has yet to be released.
