Young man killed after his car bursts into flames following crash into electric pole in Chonburi

Ban Suan, Mueang Chonburi-

A young Thai man was killed early yesterday morning following his car setting on fire after he crashed at reportedly high speed into an electric pole in Ban Suan, Mueang Chonburi.

The horrific accident took place around 4:00 AM on January 2nd, 2020 on Soi Ban Suan near Sethakit Moo 4.

The victim, 23-year-old Methee Tiangkul, an employee of Lotus Plus Mall in Mueang Chonburi, was pronounced dead at the scene by rescue workers.

Somchai Kewaliwongsathorn, 62, witnessed the incident and said high speed was a factor. He used a fire extinguisher in his vehicle to attempt to put out the fire but was unsuccessful and then called for police and emergency assistance.

Pol. Lt. Col. Sam Roeng Naengin of the Mueang Chonburi Police told The Pattaya News police were investigating and they would look into if alcohol was also a factor in the tragic accident.
