Thailand announces 216 new confirmed cases of Covid-19, one additional death

Bangkok, Thailand-

Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin, the spokesperson for the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration or CCSA announced 216 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 at a press conference this morning in Bangkok.

He also confirmed one additional death which we had reported on first yesterday, a 47-year-old Chonburi woman (Some reports have said 49) in Banglamung with diabetes who reportedly refused treatment for Covid-19 and her medical conditions.

182 new cases were domestic, 32 were migrant workers in dormitories under a “hard lockdown”.

We will have a separate report with Chonburi cases being confirmed later this afternoon following an update from the Chonburi Public Health Department.

Thailand has now had a total of 7,379 cases with 4,299 recoveries. 3,016 people currently remain in treatment/under observation, the majority are asymptomatic or mild according to Dr. Taweesin. Thailand, however, has a policy that all asymptomatic cases must remain in a hospital or similar center under observation.
