Reader Talkback results: Who do YOU think is responsible for the current Covid-19 clusters in Thailand

Pattaya, Thailand:

The following is our weekly feature in which we ask our readers a news related question and highlight your answers and feedback at the end of each week.

This week, as it is the biggest item in the news, we asked our readers what additional measures, if any, should they take around the new cluster of Covid-19 infections coming out of Samut Sakhon near Bangkok? Do you have faith in their current measures and trace and testing system? Do you think regional lockdowns are enough or would you support national lockdowns, despite the huge economic cost?  Would you call for less or more events and gatherings canceled? Do you think any businesses or venues should be closed or restricted? And, who is responsible?

You can comment below, on our social media or mail us at Pattayanewseditor@gmail.com. We look forward to your response and will publish them next weekend.

Here is what you said, the opinions below are those of the writer:

Charlie B-Can we please note the difference between migrant workers and illegal entrants who then go on to work. There are many hundred thousand migrant workers who entered Thailand perfectly legally and most of them have been here since before Covid. Do not tar all migrant workers with the same brush.  The illegal entrants, officials who facilitate their entry and employers who create demand for their labour are all equally to blame.

P.B-Border patrol sure is responsible. They know all illegal way to cross the border ,but let them open for migrants can pass and working on construction in Thailand.

Ken T-This entire affair shows the incompetency of the Thai Government and Thai military. Blame starts at the top. Anutin (Health Minister) needs to shoulder the blame and quit.

Nik S-Personal Responsibility.

Robert G-Lock down the Phuket border!

Oxyjohn-Stay in your homes, wrap yourself in bubble wrap and watch your country disintegrate on the TV.

Richard H-As doctors say, treat the illness, not the symptom

Greg K-Who’s responsible? Who put it on airplanes and sent it around the world, knowing full well how deadly and contagious it was?

Thank you as always for your engagement, comments and thoughts!
