A motorbike driver allegedly going the wrong way against traffic is has been pronounced dead at the scene after colliding with a pickup truck in Banglamung early this morning (December 14th).
The Huay Yai Police was notified of the accident at 1:30AM on Road Number 331 in the Khao Maikaew sub-district.
Emergency responders and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find a damaged pickup truck and a motorbike on the side of the road.
The motorbike driver, Mr. Amphon Srimued, 32, was found dead on the road by first responders and appeared to have died instantly. A helmet was found at the scene and appeared to have been thrown during the impact of the accident.
The pickup truck driver, Mr. Peeraphon Somchid, 22, told police that he was going to Sattahip. Mr. Amphon was allegedly driving the wrong way down the road.
Peeraphon told The Pattaya News the car in front of him swerved suddenly to avoid the motorbike driven by Mr. Amphon but he was tragically unable to avoid the crash.
Huay Yai police are not sure at this time why Mr. Amphon appeared to be driving the wrong direction against traffic and are reviewing the incident. They did not state if any potential legal charges would be filed against Mr. Peeraphon at this time although they did state to The Pattaya News that he was being cooperative in the incident.
