Motorbike driver seriously injured after crashing into car in Chonburi, passenger flees scene of accident

Panthong, Chonburi-

A motorbike driver has sustained serious injuries after crashing into a pickup truck on the side of the road in the Panthong district this week. A motorbike passenger on the same motorbike reportedly fled the scene, despite not driving the vehicle.

The Panthong Police was notified of the accident earlier this week in Soi 3 of the Baan Kao sub-district.

Police, emergency responders and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find a motorbike driver Mr. Komsan Lomaban, 23, who had sustained serious injuries. He was rushed to a local hospital for medical assistance.

A damaged pickup truck and Mr. Komsan’s motorbike were found on the road.

Mr. Komsan, who was still conscious despite his injuries reportedly told emergency responders, “The pickup truck immediately stopped in front of my motorbike while I was driving without a warning.”
“I was unable to avoid the collision. My friend, the passenger on my motorbike, chose to leave the scene. I don’t know why.” Komsan continued. His friend was not immediately identified by law enforcement who are reportedly looking into why the man would leave the scene of the accident.
Meanwhile, the pickup truck driver, Mr. Tanawat Nanprakon, 42, told Panthong police a statement that was contradictory to the one given by Mr. Komsan “I parked my pickup truck on the side of the road when the motorbike crashed into my pickup truck. I did not immediately stop without warning.”
Pan Thong police are continuing their investigation to find the exact cause of the accident and determine who is at fault in the incident.
