Driver falls asleep at wheel and is seriously injured in Ban Bueng van accident

Ban Bueng, Chonburi-

A market vendor has sustained serious injuries after he fell asleep at the wheel before his minivan crashed into a power pole in the Ban Bueng sub-district.

The Ban Bueng Police was notified of the accident at 4:00 PM on Tuesday (December 1st) on Bueng – Klang Road (No 344) in Nong Paikaew.

Emergency responders and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find the damaged minivan on the side of the road.

The driver, Mr. Suwat Natee, 29, who had sustained serious injuries, was stuck inside.

It took about 40 minutes for rescue workers to free him from the minivan. He was taken to a local hospital for medical assistance.

The driver, who was still conscious, told Ban Bueang police, “I am a market vendor and I fell asleep at the wheel before crashing into the power pole.”

A witness, Mr. Anon Mapang, 25, told The Pattaya News, “I was driving my car when I saw the minivan on the side of the road crash before calling for help.”

Ban Bueang law enforcement have stated to The Pattaya News that at this time they will not be filing charges.
