TAT proposes matchmaker-like tourism agenda “Single Travel Route” to attract domestic single people and improve domestic tourism

National –

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has sparked a ne idea to improve Thailand’s tourism by promoting a matchmaker-like travel scheme for those domestic single people to get away from loneliness and to look for love while traveling.

Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT executive director of tourism products, told the press earlier this week, November 23, that TAT has planned to develop tourist routes and search for new unique tourist attractions to attract more tourists in more specific groups to visit local destinations in 2021 and that is when groups of Thai single tourists became to come into the dialogue.

The “Single Travel Route” (literal title) will be arranged for air and water transport routes for single tourists to join many activities, such as cruising on the Chao Phraya River to visit temples and pay preliminary homage and make merit to Buddha Statues.

TAT is already in a discussion with the boat operators in the capital and expects that the scheme should be able to launch in early 2021, according to the executive director.

Thapanee told the press: “We believe this is a good idea for only single people to travel on the route and to connect and increase chances of meeting new people. It will allow tourists who join the trip to have a chance to fulfill their love before February, which is the month of love.”

Moreover, TAT has also jointly worked with Thai Airways to promote another merit-based tourism or “Faith Tour”, in which tourists are allowed to pray for merit to the Buddha image on the plane while being flown above well-known temples across the country.

Thapanee added: “This proposal of merit-based tourism will allow tourists to be on board on Thai Airways’ large aircraft such as the Airbus A380 that is not typically used domestically. The flight will also offer trading amulets and other faith goods on the plane.”
