Elderly man drowns while fishing in Mabprachan reservoir in the Pattaya area

Banglamung, Chonburi-

A 70-year-old man has been found dead in a reservoir in the Pattaya area this afternoon after reportedly heavily drinking alcohol before going fishing.

Rescue workers were notified of the incident at 2:00 PM today at the Mabprachan reservoir.

Sawang Boriboon rescue staff and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene shortly after an emergency call was made from a friend of the victim. It took more than half an hour for rescue divers to find the body of the 70-year-old man in the reservoir. His name was not given by Nongprue law enforcement officials.

Mr. Kajornsak Jaroensri, 40, told The Pattaya News that he and the man were drinking alcohol together before going fishing in the reservoir.

Mr. Kajornsak told Pattaya News reporters that the victim was swimming around before he disappeared under the water. Mr. Kajornsak attempted to help but failed so he then called for emergency assistance from local rescue workers.
