Thailand-
The first local elections since the 2014 coup are likely to take place in mid December, says the Thai Government.
The date, however, is not final. The Interior Ministry, Election Commission and the Thai Cabinet will need to come together to nominate a date, stating that they would likely do so sometime in October to finalize this.
The Thai Cabinet would then decide which positions would be elected first. Pattaya City, it is noted, would be one of the options.
It is also important to note that under Thai Law sales of alcohol is prohibited on election days, including local elections. In previous elections, alcohol was banned the evening before and for the entire day of elections. This means that entertainment style venues would likely be forced to close. The Pattaya News will keep readers informed on this topic.
