Bangkok –

5 family members, including a father, mother, grandfather, grandmother of an eight-year-old child, were found shot to death at their own house in Thung Khru district, Bangkok this morning, September 17.

Police officers arrived at the scene around 7:00 AM after being alert of several gunshots heard inside the house by the neighborhood.

The grandmother, 65, was found in the living room of the first floor while the rest of the members including the grandfather, 72, the father, 39, the mother, 36, and the boy were found lying on their bedrooms on the second floor. A .30 revolver was also discovered on a father’s hand along with several cartridges scattering all over the house.

One of their neighbors told the official that she woke up at 5:00 AM and heard the first round of two gunshots before the other 3 to 4 more shots were heard.

She decided to wander around the house as the family suspiciously did not take their child to a school like they normally did every morning. The concerned neighbor then called the police shortly after hearing no reply from the family when she called them from the outside.

The initial investigation reveals that the two-story house was also running a business of chemical supplies and car-care products called Well Industrial Supply Company Limited. The investigators are in the initial process of collecting evidence and CCTV footage as well as contacting the victims’ relatives for questioning.

Police Colonel Sunan On-nongprong, a chief inspector of Metropolitan Police Division 8, said that although the father was lying closest to the weapon, we could not jump to the conclusion that he was the one who shot the rest of the family. The incident needs more evidence from both home surveillance cameras and forensic evidence before making any assumptions.

The chief told reporters: “Officials are collecting evidence and calling the relatives, who were originally from Chachoengsao, to questioning at the police station regarding the motive for the cause since there were no notes or letters found at the scene and no intruder was reportedly entering the house since the door was locked from the inside.”
