Chonburi Governor to hold urgent meeting regarding political gatherings in the province

Chonburi Governor Phakkhrathon Thianchai has ordered the education authorities and related departments in the province on Friday, September 11, for an urgent meeting regarding the preparation of political gatherings of university students and people.

Following several demonstrations of anti-government activists led by the Free YOUTH students nationwide, including Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Ubon Ratchathani, the Chonburi Governor, therefore, will run the meeting to consult and plan a procedure to handle public gatherings and to prevent the spread of Covid-19 during the event.

Although it has not yet been officially announced by the pro-democracy students of the Free YOUTH group if any political protests will be conducted in Chonburi anytime soon, the Chonburi authorities are planning ahead in order to be able to control any such situation professionally.

According to a leaked document that was released today to associated press, the private meeting scheduled for this week will involve officials from the Chonburi Provincial Education and rectors of Burapha University, Kasetsart University Sriracha Campus, Sripatum University and the Rajamangala University of Technology at the Bang Phra Campus. It will be held at the Chonburi City Hall next Tuesday, 15, from 1:30 PM onwards.
