A construction pit has been filled over with soil after a driver survived a recent accident by jumping from his motorbike just before it fell into the construction pit this week in Pattaya.

The area is at the entrance of Soi Sukhumvit 31 (Soi Boonnak) where water pipes are currently being installed.
The pit was dug two months ago, according to Pattaya City officials. Barriers have been placed around the pit with small lights to warn road users.
However, after the recent accident and negative media attention, the contractor has filled the pit with soil and added more lights and signals. The construction work is not yet completed, according to the contractor, but filling the pit for the time being was done for safety related reasons.
