Pattaya-

Pattaya beach is to provide more parking areas by temporarily decreasing bus stops areas along Pattaya Beach Road.

A meeting yesterday was held at Pattaya City Hall and was led by the Pattaya City Deputy Mayor Ronnakit Ekkasing.

The meeting has concluded that there are in total 17 bus stops on the beach road. They will have to decrease each bus stop parking area from 30 meters down to 15 meters.

More parking areas will be available on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and on public holidays from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Deputy Mayor Ronnakit said this is only temporary for one year while they are seeking long term solutions to resolve parking problems.

Officials are also discussing with hotel operators nearby to provide parking areas with proper parking fees.

Officials have ruled out parking directly next to the beach for the whole length of Beach Road, stating there are too many concerns with traffic and potential for accidents or disputes.

The request for more parking spots has come from both beach chair vendors and Thai people who stated lack of parking as a primary reason for not visiting Pattaya Beach more often.
