Thai Cabinet approves nearly 12 billion baht fund to ease drought and flood issues across Thailand

The Thai Cabinet on the 13 of August approved an additional fund of 11.89 billion baht to ease drought and floods in 76 provinces nationwide, following a proposal by the Office of the National Water Resources.

The fund will be used to finance 14 projects carried out by five ministries.

It will be allocated to the Royal Irrigation Department, under Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, for eight projects; the Department of Local Administration and the Department of Public Works and Town and Country Planning, under the Ministry of Interior, for two projects; the Department of Groundwater Resources, under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, for two projects; the Royal Thai Army, under the Ministry of Defense, for one project; and the Marine Department, under the Ministry of Transport, for one project.

The Cabinet also instructed the Office of the National Water Resources to evaluate the operations of these projects and give a report on the issue to the Cabinet.
