Another drainage construction work in Pattaya delayed, contractor to be fined
Pattaya-
Drainage construction works in Soi 5 Dec (Ha Tanwa) and Soi Sukhumvit 45 have been delayed. The contractor is going to be fined 1.8 million baht. The new construction deadline will be within two months.
Local residents have complained to The Pattaya News reporters about reported road problems on Soi 5 in Nongprue as the drainage contractor had not finished on time and the road had been practically impassable for at least five months according to them.
One of the locals told The Pattaya News this construction should have been done many months ago but the work stopped five months ago and was not resumed. The resident, who asked not to be named, added that the delay has caused permanent damage to the road and hurt local business.
Mr. Anuwat Laothongkam of the Pattaya City Public Works Division admitted to The Pattaya News that the work has only been 50 % completed. The contractor will be fined for the delay at a total cost of 1.8 million baht. The construction must be completed within 2 months, he added.
This delay follows similar delays in Naklua which we previously reported on (see below) and city officials cracking down with fines.
Some local contractors have claimed the delays were due to the Covid19 Coronavirus lockdowns but city officials disagree, noting that the original deadlines were before these lockdowns.
