Laem Chabang-
A 23 year old Thai man was crushed to death after a cargo container broke loose while being lifted to a higher level of a large cargo ship in the Laem Chabang area early this morning.
Pol.Col. Natthaphon Boonratchakul, an investigation officer at Laem Chabang Police Station, was notified of the incident just before 2:00 AM this morning near Village number 3 in the Thung Lukla sub-district.
The incident took place aboard a large cargo ship where the victim, 23 year old Watcharapong Sudlok, was found crushed beneath a large cargo container with multiple major injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
His co-workers stated to Laem Chabang Police that the victim was responsible for properly locking and securing the container before lifting the cargo to a higher level of the ship.
Police will be investigating the incident to determine if the lock either broke or if the cargo was improperly secured. They will also be reviewing CCTV on the ship to determine if proper safety standards were being followed.
