Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin, the spokesman of the Covid19 Coronavirus Situation Administration, announced eight new confirmed cases of the Covid19 Coronavirus this morning at a press conference in Bangkok.

All eight cases are located in the deep South and either imported or associated with people with recent travel to Malaysia.

Five of the new cases were in Songkhla in the Sadao district and all were imported cases of illegal migrants from Malaysia in state quarantine with no exposure to the general public.

Three were from proactive case finding in Yala, also at the border to Malaysia, and connected to confirmed patients who had recently visited Malaysia.

There were no additional deaths announced today, leaving Thailand at a total of 55 total deaths from the virus nationwide.

Only 161 patients remain under treatment for Covid19 in the entire Kingdom of Thailand, with 12 more people being fully released and recovered overnight.

Of the 3000 current cases, 2,784 have fully recovered and been released.
