Golf courses prepare to reopen Sunday in Pattaya area, getting hundreds back to work

With golf courses set to reopen this Sunday, local business owners and their employees have been preparing their courses for expected excited returning customers while ensuring that new hygiene measures are taken to help combat the Covid19 Coronavirus.

The executive vice president of the Prestige Valley Golf Club in the Banglamung area, Mr. Pichet Nuengchamnong, spoke with the Pattaya News and associated press yesterday afternoon. He is also involved with several Golf Associations which represent multiple courses in the local area.

He stated that hundreds of staff were excited to return to work tomorrow and had been preparing the courses and Golf Clubs for customers. He stated that multiple customers had already been calling to reserve tee times and to ensure that the club would be open for business.

Mr. Pichet stated that numerous new hygiene measures would take place, including gloves and masks being worn at all times and caddies keeping proper physical distance from the golfers.

Mr. Pichet said all golf carts and rentable equipment were being throughly sanitized and cleaned before and after each player.

Local golf courses have been closed since around March 28, putting hundreds of local staff out of work.

Meanwhile, fans of golf will be excited to return to the area courses and get their minds off of the Covid19 situation in the country.

Mr. Pichet also stated that no tournaments or clubhouse activities can take place at this time and the reopening is for strictly lesuire golfing. Large groups will also be limited and should call the courses in advance for information.
