Thai Cabinet decides Schools will reopen on July 1st

Bangkok-

The Thai Cabinet made a decision on Tuesday afternoon to re-open Thai schools on July 1st, a much later date as opposed to the originally announced May 16th.

Government spokeswoman Narumon Pinyosinwat told the press this afternoon that the Thai Cabinet acknowledged that the first semester of the 2020 academic year will have to be adjusted.

The original date of May 16th had been suggested by the Education Ministry, however, Government officials feel that the situation with the Covid-19 Coronavirus will not be completely resolved by this date.

The Thai Cabinet also stated that should the situation not be completely resolved by the first of July that they will look into the situation again closer to this date.

Some Private schools, meanwhile, have continued courses online during the current Covid19 Coronavirus crisis. This option however is not available for many Thai students who do not have computers, internet connections or even electricity in some rural areas at home to sustain online education.
