Closure of entertainment venues nationwide likely coming

Bangkok-

Interior Minister Anupong Paojinda said this weekend the remaining provinces are expected to order the temporary closure of all entertainment venues for at least 14 days to strengthen efforts to contain the spread of Covid-19. He said provincial governors are authorized to close public places as Covid-19 has been declared a dangerous communicable disease.

Although many provinces such as Chonburi have closed some remain open especially on islands or rural areas that have not yet been affected by any potential spread of the virus.

However, concern is growing that as millions get temporarily laid off and have nothing to do that they may consider going to provinces that are open for business as usual, potentially spreading the virus.

Additionally, many people are estimated to be attempting to return to their homes as millions have been told their places of employment are closed for several weeks due to the potential spread of Covid-19. Concerns of some of them having the virus are growing amongst provincial officials.
