Major Jeerasak Abfeng of the Nongprue Police was notified of the accident at 1:00AM in Soi Khao Talo.

Police, emergency responders and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find two damaged motorbikes on the road and on the footpath next to the market.

Nearby, rescue workers found the male foreigner, 73, who had sustained serious injuries. He was later pronounced dead at the scene despite attempts to resuscitate him. The Pattaya News has chosen to with hold his name at this time as friends and family mourn. The man was a well known local expat and had a family locally in Pattaya, The Pattaya News has been informed.

Witnesses told Pattaya Police that the foreign motorbike driver was driving at a fairly high speed before losing control and colliding into a parked motorbike and pole on the side of the road next to a still busy night market.

However, Pattaya police are continuing their investigation into the incident as allegedly some eye witnesses have given conflicting statements on how exactly the accident took place.
