Pickup truck driver falls asleep at wheel and crashed into power pole in Pattaya

Pattaya –
A pickup truck driver has escaped serious injuries after he fell asleep at the wheel and collided with a power pole this morning in Pattaya.

Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan rescue workers were notified of the accident at 4:30AM in Soi Siam Country Club.

Police and emergency responders arrived at the scene to find a damaged pickup truck crashed into a power pole. A noodle shop nearby had also suffered property damage.

The pickup truck driver, 52 year old Chalermsak Wanja, was found inside. He sustained minor injuries. He has been taken to a local hospital.

Mr. Wanja said he was heading back from a hospital to visit a friend to his home. He fell asleep while driving home due to exhaustion from time at the hospital, according to him. The pickup truck crashed into the noodle shop before slamming into the power pole.

Police are continuing their investigation for further legal action. It was stated to The Pattaya News that the driver will pay for the damages to the restaurant in the accident.
