Chonburi-
Police and emergency services rushed to the Chonburi bypass on Sunday, August 4th, 2019 after a Thai man who had been sitting in the road was hit by a car.
Rescue services performed CPR on Mr. Thanawit Sriduangjan, 26, who had a head injury and broken arm. While this was going on, his wife was in floods of tears being consoled by friends just yards from the scene. Mr. Sriduangjan was taken by the rescue services to a local hospital, however, was pronounced dead shortly after arriving, succumbing to his injuries.
Two vehicles were found damaged at the scene, a Ford and a Toyota Vios.
The Ford driver, who was not named to the press, said that he had braked and stopped after seeing a shirtless man sitting cross-legged in the road. He had shined his lights at the man and taken a picture with his phone’s camera and warned him that he could be hit.
Moments later, he heard the sound of a horn then a Toyota Vios driven by Khomsan Khiawphairee, 32, crashed into Mr. Sriduangjan.
It is unknown why Mr. Sriduangjan decided to sit in the middle of the busy road, however, a witness at the scene stated that he had a recent argument with his wife and decided to sit in the road as a way to “get back at her.”
Pol Lt-Col Siwakorn Janthamenchai of the Muang Chonburi police stated to the associated Pattaya Press that he is investigating the incident in full.
