Update on our earlier article: https://thepattayanews.com/2018/02/11/australian-national-dies-fight-american-foreigner-popular-northern-pattaya-bar/
We have an update on our previous article involving a fatal bar fight at the popular Ruby Club in Northern Pattaya in which an Australian national passed away. The Thai police have charged an American suspect, Mr. Jose Manuel Polanco Jr, 43 years old from New York City, U.S.A., with manslaughter with additional charges possibly pending investigation. He remains in police custody pending the re-enactment of the incident per Thai law and his first court appearance, estimated to be early next week around the 19th or 20th of this month.
Mr. Polanco has denied the charges at this time and stated to the authorities that although he was the other individual involved in the fight he was acting in self defence and did not initiate the conflict. He also stated, which has been confirmed, that he willingly turned himself into Thai authorities to resolve the issue after the incident.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed to The Pattaya News that Mr. Benjamin Robb, 42, of Australia passed away as a result of the incident and they are providing consular assistance to his family.
The Thai police have not issued an official statement at this time other than confirming that manslaughter charges have been filed which face a penalty of 3-15 years in a Thai jail.
Ruby Club issued an official statement which is in our previous article and have stated that they will not be issuing further statements or accepting interviews at this time.
We will have more information as it comes out at The Pattaya News.
