A 41-year-old Thai man was stabbed in his abdomen by a vagrant for unknown reasons in Pattaya and had to walk over 4 kilometers to find help.
At 3:36 PM on July 3rd, 2024, the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Foundation received a report of a man injured by a knife attack at the mouth of Soi Phothisan in the Naklua sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province. Rescue workers and officers from the Banglamung Police Station rushed to the scene.
Upon arrival, authorities found Mr. Somchai Makrasi, 41, with a stab wound to his left ribcage. Good Samaritans had provided initial assistance before rescue workers administered first aid and urgently transported him to the nearest hospital.
According to Mr. Somchai, he was collecting coins during an event at Wat Thammasamakkee in South Pattaya. While counting the coins, a vagrant suddenly stabbed him in the abdomen for unknown reasons.
Mr. Somchai fled the area without seeing the assailants face. He then walked along Pattaya’s Sukhumvit Road for over 4 km before spotting a local resident and seeking her help.
Good Samaritan Ms. Kea, 41, stated that she noticed Mr. Somchai walking towards her, covered in blood. The man explained that he had been stabbed and asked her to contact authorities. She immediately called for emergency services.
Banglamung police are reviewing CCTV footage in the area to locate the suspect.
