Pattaya Son-in-Law Shoots at Father-in-Law’s Friend, Innocent Woman Killed by Stray Bullet

Chonburi —

A tragic incident occurred on June 25th, near Pattaya, in which a son-in-law opened fire on his father-in-law’s friend, resulting in the death of an innocent woman.

At around 5:26 PM on the day in question, Nongprue police and the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Foundation received a report of gunshots near the Map Phrachan Reservoir in the Pong sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province. They immediately responded to the scene along with The Pattaya News team.

Upon arrival, rescue workers and medical personnel immediately administered first aid and CPR to the critically injured victim, Ms. Penprapa Phlapho, 33, who had sustained a gunshot wound to her upper back that had penetrated her shoulder blade and throat. She was then rushed to a nearby hospital for further treatment. However, despite their heroic efforts, Ms. Penprapa ultimately succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

A further police investigation revealed that Ms. Penprapa was riding in a pickup truck driven by her nephew when they were ambushed by a man riding a motorcycle. The assailant opened fire from behind their vehicle and accidentally hit Ms. Penprapa in the back.

The pickup truck was also damaged by the gunfire, with one bullet hole found on the rear bed and another on the rear window.

According to Mr. Thongchai Butthong, 42, who was also in the truck, he believed the suspect was his friend’s son-in-law. Mr. Thongchai explained that he had previously intervened in a dispute between the two men, which may have angered the assailant.

Nongprue police identified the suspect only as Mr. Meng. They are currently tracking him down to bring him to justice as of press time.
