PRESS RELEASE:
Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin addressed the pressing tourism infrastructure challenges on Koh Larn, a popular destination in Chonburi province that draws over 500,000 visitors monthly. The prime minister and his team visited the island today (June 22) to discuss improvements in safety, healthcare readiness, and environmental management to alleviate the strain on local services caused by the tourism influx.
During his meeting with the Mayor of Pattaya and other local officials, Srettha urged immediate action to enhance tourist safety and boost the capacity of local hospitals to manage emergencies. The prime minister also made clear the urgent need for effective waste management solutions, including completing a waste incinerator project to prevent a waste accumulation crisis similar to what has been experienced on Koh Samui in the South.
Beyond Koh Larn, Prime Minister Srettha’s itinerary includes further engagements in Chonburi and Rayong provinces to advance the development of the Eastern Economic Corridor. He is scheduled to be at U-Tapao International Airport in Rayong tomorrow (June 23) to discuss developments in commercial areas and review a potential Formula One racing route at Phra Tamnak Hill.
His tour also includes overseeing the progress of the Laem Chabang Port Development Project’s third phase in Si Racha district and discussing a comprehensive approach to regional development and investment enhancement.
