Allegedly Intoxicated Driver Plunges Sedan into Canal After High-Speed Collision in Banglamung

At 1:06 AM on June 8th, 2024, rescuers from the Sawang Boriboon Pattaya Foundation responded to an accident report involving a sedan and a pickup truck near the Mapprachan Reservoir, Bang Lamung, Chonburi. The sedan had collided with the pickup truck and subsequently slid into a roadside canal.

Upon arriving at the scene, rescuers found a damaged bronze pickup truck. The driver, publicly identified only as Mr. Somchai, 42, was unharmed. Nearby, a white sedan was partially submerged in the canal, with only its rooftop visible. The sedan driver, publicly identified only as Mr. Kritsanarak, 29, appeared heavily intoxicated and suffered minor injuries, according to the rescuers.

The rescue teams administered first aid to the victims and questioned Mr. Somchai about the accident. He reported that he was driving normally when the speeding sedan crashed into his truck before veering into the canal.

Local residents had initially rescued Kritsanarak from the sedan. They noted that he was intoxicated and speaking incoherently before they reported the accident to the rescue teams.

Nong Prue police officers investigated the scene and collected local CCTV footage. They planned to conduct alcohol tests on Kritsanarak to determine his blood alcohol content before proceeding with further legal action.
