Car Accident at Pattaya Intersection Leaves Two People Injured

Pattaya —

A late-night car accident at an intersection in Pattaya left two people injured.

The incident occurred at around 1:36 AM on May 17th, 2024, on Sukhumvit Road. Upon receiving the report, rescue workers from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation and Pattaya police officers rushed to the scene.

At the scene, a white Neta sedan with red license plates was found in the middle of the road, with severe font-end damage. The driver, Ms. Natchananporn Phimukhamon, 37, was injured.

The other vehicle involved was a white Honda City sedan. It had sustained significant damage to its left side and had spun onto the sidewalk. The driver, an unidentified woman around 30-35 years old, was seriously injured. Rescue workers provided first aid to both victims before rushing them to the nearest hospital.

According to Mr. Khun Maung Myo, a 21-year-old Burmese national who was in the car with Ms. Natchananporn, he claimed to be the boyfriend of Ms. Natchananporn. He stated that they were traveling from Chonburi towards Pattaya when they noticed the traffic light showing green. He alleged that the other car ran the red light while making a U-turn, causing Ms. Natchananporn, who was driving, to brake suddenly and collide with the other vehicle.

However, residents in the vicinity provided CCTV footage that reportedly contradicted Mr. Khun Maung Myo’s account. The footage showed the Neta sedan traveling straight through the intersection while the other car was making a U-turn, resulting in a head-on collision.

Pattaya police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to clarify the discrepancies. They will also later summon the unidentified driver of the Honda City sedan to hear her side of the story once she recovers.
