Pattaya —

Over 20 tons of garbage was left behind in Pattaya after Wan Lai Day or the Big Day of Songkran took place on April 19th, 2024.

Pattaya Deputy Mayor Mr. Manoch Nongyai visited Pattaya Beach on Saturday morning to inspect the area and provide support to the Pattaya City Environment Office workers who were busy cleaning up after the Wanlai festivities.

Pattaya hosted Wanlai celebrations last Friday to mark the end of Songkran. According to the deputy mayor, the celebrations generated 20 tons of waste mostly strewn around Beach Road.

Mr. Manoch praised the city waste management workers as “true heroes” for their dedication to keeping Pattaya Beach clean. He noted that Beach Road was covered in colored powder (although the city had technically banned it), trash, glass bottles, cardboard boxes, water guns, water buckets, and powder cans after the fun-filled celebrations.

The cleanup operation began at 4:00 AM with four water trucks deployed to collect garbage and wash down the streets and surrounding areas. The workers were able to complete the cleanup before dawn, in line with the city’s “Clean Before Sunrise” policy, Mr. Manoch stated.
