Elderly man injured in four vehicle crash in Chonburi

Chonburi-

An elderly motorbike driver has sustained injuries after colliding with a pickup truck while making a U-turn in the Pan Thong district yesterday (January 25th).

Four vehicles in total were damaged in the accident which caused traffic to back up for over two kilometers and significant delays.

The Pan Thong Police was notified of the accident at a U-turn on the Suk Prayoon Road in the Marb Pong sub-district.

Police and emergency responders arrived at the scene to initially find a damaged motorbike on the road.

Nearby, rescue staff found an injured Thai man, Mr. Somsak Suebtrakun, 77. He had sustained facial injuries and was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment.

A damaged pickup truck was found nearby with the driver, Mr. Wirat Pattrakun, waiting for law enforcement. He was uninjured.

Two other vehicles with minor damage were a pickup truck and a trailer truck. Traffic was at a standstill and backed up for two kilometers while police got the vehicles off the road.

Witnesses told police the elderly motorbike driver was making a U-turn before colliding with the pickup. The pickup truck then lost control and careened into the trailer truck and another parked pickup truck on the roadside.

Pan Thong police are checking CCTV to determine potential liability. No charges have been filed at this time and the injured man is expected to recover.
