Bangkok reopens thirteen establishments under strict Covid-19 prevention measures, effective this Friday

Bangkok –

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration spokesperson, Pongsakorn Kwanmuang, announced the relaxation and reopening of 13 establishments in Bangkok under Covid-19 Coronavirus prevention measures this afternoon, January 21st.

The results came after a general meeting of the Bangkok Communicable Disease Committee over the concern of the spread of Covid-19 in the capital. According to the Committee, Bangkok has potentially taken control of the spread during the new Covid-19 outbreak faster and more professional than the first pandemic, from the highest cases found of 49 cases a day to 10 cases a day.

The committee, therefore, agreed to issue a reopening announcement on 13 businesses in Bangkok effective tomorrow, January 22, at 00:01 AM. The businesses are as follows:

  1. Arcade machines and game centers with strict cleaning measures and face-mask wearing at all times
  2. Online gaming and internet cafes, with strict cleaning measures and face-mask wearing at all times
  3. Elderly nursing centers, with reduced activity time and avoiding contact with other patients
  4. Boxing stadiums, horse and other animal-fighting arenas, spectators are still prohibited
  5. Banquet rooms, with not more than 300 people are open and must follow health measures. A gathering of more than 300 guests must request permission.
  6. Amulet markets
  7. Beauty institutions (with no doctors) and tattoo and piercing places with a limited number of clients
  8. Fitness without a trainer or instructor, customers must refrain from saunas and must perform social distancing with at least 2 meters between exercise equipment
  9. Thai traditional massage shops (not massage parlors/soapies), with strict cleaning measures and face-mask wearing at all times
  10. Boxing practicing places, with no partners nor competitions
  11. Bowling, skating, rollerblading places, with no competitions nor spectators
  12. Dance institutions, with no competitions nor spectators
  13. Martial arts schools, gyms, with no competition nor spectators

In regards to bars and nightlife as well as alcohol at restaurants and staying open past 9:00 P.M. for dine-in, the spokesperson said this needed further discussion and approval from the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration and would be reviewed at a later date.
