Thailand-

The Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced a total of 230 new infections of Covid-19 today but also stated that 618 people had fully recovered and been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers.

There was also one additional death bringing the total in Thailand to seventy people who have lost their lives to Covid-19 since the outbreak of the disease last year.

The victim was a 67-year-old man who died of kidney failure yesterday, January 14th. He had been a regular at a Bangkok nightclub according to the CCSA which is where it is believed he caught the infection around December 23rd. He had been hospitalized since December 30th after being contact traced to another person at the nightclub. This brings the total death rate in Thailand to a 0.60 percent, nearly all with pre existing conditions or health issues.

126 cases were from active case finding, primarily in migrant communities and factories that are not open to the general public and do not have widespread exposure. 21 cases were imported from overseas and the remaining 83 were domestic local cases.

Thailand has now had a total of 11,680 cases with 8,906 recoveries.
