Chonburi-
Ten Thais, three Cambodians, and two Laotians have been arrested at a house in the Mueang Chonburi district last night (January 11th) in an online gambling raid.
A team of Police led by the Acting Chonburi Provincial Police Commander Major General Thiti Sangsawang raided the home in question. The Major General said the raid came after a tip from a concerned citizen.
The house was located in the Samet sub- district. Police arrested ten Thais, three Cambodians, and two Laotians. Police seized dice, Hi-Low gambling items, and computers.
They are facing charges of offending the emergency decree while some of them are facing charges of illegally entering the kingdom and were found not to have any legal documentation. The shop ran live gambling online for customers located around the world.
One of the suspects whose name was not given told police that they allegedly received 500 baht per day. The online gambling company, however, generated about 300,000 baht a day according to Mueang Chonburi Police. The staff of the online gambling center claimed they didn’t know the names or location of the owners or people they worked for and that they worked through intermediaries. Police are continuing to investigate to locate the other people involved with the alleged gambling organization.
