Four new cases of Covid-19 Coronavirus found in Bangkok, Tak, and Samut Prakan this afternoon, investigation undergoing

Four new cases of Covid-19 Coronavirus were discovered and confirmed in Bangkok, Tak, and Samut Prakan provinces today, December 21.

The first two cases were found in Bangkok and connected to the case of a shrimp market in the Samut Sakhon province. One of them was being quarantined at a local hospital in the Bang Khun Thian District and the other was in a local hospital in Bangkok, according to a BMA spokesman.

Further investigation is currently being conducted to track down people who might have been in close contact with the confirmed patients. More information will be announced by the Center of Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) later.

The third patient is a 42-year-old Burmese cashier at a supermarket in the Mae Sot market of Tak province. She was reportedly asymptomatic and did not have a relevance to the Samut Sakhon market however is located near the Burmese border.

She was asked to test for the Covid-19 test while Mae Sot public health officials were visiting the market and performing a ‘big cleaning’ at the place. She is being isolated at Mae Sot hospital.

The fourth patient found in Samut Prakan is a 52-year-old male vendor who was reportedly working at Pak Nam market. According to a Samut Prakan public health officer, the case was connected to previous cases of two migrant workers from Laos and a Thai national who were also working at Pak Nam market.

The cases were revealed by public health authorities in the provinces this afternoon. The Disease Investigation Department is conducting an investigation and detecting possible close contacts of the new patients. They also asked the public to remain calm and strictly conduct social distancing and other health measures to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 Coronavirus.
