Nong Nooch Gardens in Pattaya welcomes brand new baby elephant, the 97th elephant at the park

Nong Nooch Gardens, Pattaya-

Nong Nooch Gardens in Pattaya welcomed a brand new addition to the park last week, a brand new baby elephant, which is the 97th elephant at the park in total.

The elephant, whose name in Thai translates roughly to “Broken Opal”, was born at 2:30 AM on Monday October 19th, 2020.

The park held an official welcome and announcement ceremony for the new baby elephant yesterday which was led by prominent local monk Phra Kru Sangkharak Udom Thom Thamiko from Wat Samakkhi Banpot.  The elephant is healthy, according to mahouts (elephant trainers) and park staff. Nong Nooch Gardens is widely regarded as one of the most prominent and popular attractions in Chonburi.

The welcome ceremony was celebrated with special ceremonial dances, a blessing by the visiting monk and a parade of elephants and dancers.
