Thailand-
The Thai cabinet has approved for two final substitute holidays for the postponed Songkran Festival during a cabinet meeting in Bangkok today, August 13.
The last substitutes are set to be on Friday, September 4 and Monday, September 7 – which creates a four-day long weekend at the beginning of next month.
The Songkran public holidays from April 13 to 15 were postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The first substitute holiday was replaced on July 27 while the last two substitutions were under consideration and brought up in the cabinet meeting this morning.
The Pattaya news notes that these are just substitute government and legal holidays giving many people a four day weekend. There will be no “water fights” or Songkran festivities.
