Two drivers have sustained serious injuries after a pickup truck reportedly crashed into a 10 wheeler truck in Panat Nikhom yesterday.
The Panat Nikhom Police was notified of the accident at about noon yesterday in the Na Phratat sub-district.
Police, associated press and emergency response teams arrived at the scene to find the damaged pickup truck and the driver Mr. Sayomphoom Lamtara, 50.
Nearby, rescue staff found a damaged 10 wheeler truck crashed into a power pole along with the truck driver Mr. Pichitsak Kasiwan, age not given.
They were both stuck inside their respective vehicles. Rescue workers had to use a hydraulic cutter to free them before taking them to a local hospital.
Ms. Supranee Wanassabodee, 47 who is a watermelon seller and witness nearby, told police that she was selling watermelons on the side of the road when the accident took place.
Supranee claimed the pickup truck driven by Mr. Sayomphoom Lamtara was driving at high speed before losing control of his vehicle. After losing control Sayomphoom crossed over the central reservation before crashing into Mr. Pichitsak.
The 10 wheeler truck caused damage to her stall as well, said Supranee, who said she barely escaped the aftermath of the accident. Panat Nikhom police are investigating the incident and will review CCTV to determine who was at exact fault and follow-up on the witness testimony from the scene of the accident.
