Two foreign men arrested in Bangkok’s red-light district for allegedly committing theft and physical assault

Bangkok-

  Two Iraqi and Syrian men, only named as Rshoan and Ghassan, were wanted by the Bangkok police after a local resident filed a report claiming that her husband and her 3-year-old son were physically assaulted by the two men living in Soi Nana, Bangkok.

  The men also allegedly stole the husband’s Apple Watch during the assault before slipping away on the night of Monday, July 3. It was not reported by Bangkok police over what the nature of the alleged assault was regarding.

  Police officers began the investigation and raided Rshoan’s condominium located in Sukhumvit Soi 1 but the suspect had appeared to move out. The stolen watch was reportedly found in the room and confirmed  by the victim.

  A search later exposed that the foreign suspects often allegedly committed theft against other foreign visitors staying in the area. A previous report of twenty-year-old Rshoan also stated that he had entered Thailand illegally while his thirty-eight-year-old friend Ghassan had been reportedly arrested for human trafficking in 2018.

  The arrest of the two men was eventually conducted in Bangkok this week after successful leads from other local residents. Both of the suspects were detained at the Lumpini Police station for further investigation and initially charged for theft and physical assault. 

  Police Lieutenant Colonel Pakpong Saibol, Deputy Director of the Royal Thai Army 1, told the Associated Press yesterday, August 6, that Rshoan was also charged for illegal immigration to Thailand and Ghassan had been ordered by the court to remain in Thailand until the cases are resolved. Both men remain in police custody, according to Lt. Col. Pakpong.
