Zhongce Rubber company gives away 1,000 sets of food to the needy in Pattaya

Pattaya –

A thousand needy people in Pattaya waited in the rain for 1,000 sets of free food from a business owner in Pattaya at the Bali Hai Pier yesterday, August 5th, 2021.

The Bali Hai Pier area, which was previously used for tourists going to Koh Larn and later skateboarding and sports, has been converted to a charity and donation area by Pattaya City due to the ease of social distancing and spacing out large amounts of people. Pattaya city has been coordinating with organizations interested in helping those in need at the pier.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation in Thailand, the government has taken strict measures, making Pattaya (and Chonburi) a maximum control zone, which means nearly all non-essential businesses have been ordered closed. This includes Pattaya’s lifeblood like entertainment, tourist attractions, nightlife, and most hospitality businesses like massage shops, gyms, and restaurants which are available for delivery and takeaway only. Even beaches, pools, and parks are currently ordered closed. Hotels can legally open, but with everything else closed and fear of Covid-19 occupancy rates hover around 0 to 3 percent according to local hotel owners. This has, of course, put tens of thousands of people out of work with limited financial aid from the government.

Mr. Chern Hua, managing director of Zhongce Rubber (Thailand) Co., Ltd Jongshor, donated 1,000 sets of five kilograms of rice, instant noodles, canned fish, and water to the needy who were waiting for the food giveaway in the rain.

Mr. Noppasorn Sukjan, the vice manager of human resources of the  Zhongce Rubber (Thailand) Co., Ltd told The Pattaya News, “We have committed to regular food charity events to the needy until the Covid-19 situation improves. We are encouraging people to fight through this crisis together and we want to support the many who are out of work due to restrictions and measures taken.”

Those interested in assisting the hungry, needy, unemployed, and homeless in Thailand must get a permit from the Banglamung district authority. For further details please call 1337 or speak to officials in person at the Banglamung District Office in the Pattaya area.
