Hong Kong celebrities presented with prestigious Thailand awards

Michelle Yim, Simon Yam Tat Wah and Roger Wu Wai Chung honoured with Friends of Thailand and Tourism Authority of Thailand Appreciation Award while in Bangkok for Chinese New Year 2023 celebrations.

Bangkok, 23 January, 2023 – In celebration of the Year of the Rabbit and the resumption of Hong Kong and Thailand’s burgeoning tourism businesses, the legendary Hong Kong celebrities Ms. Michelle Yim, Mr. Simon Yam Tat Wah, and Mr. Roger Wu Wai Chung were awarded the Thailand Privilege Card, Friends of Thailand, and Tourism Authority of Thailand Appreciation Award, in recognition of their exceptionally outstanding services in Thai tourism at Sindhorn Kempinski Hotel.

The awards were presented by Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT). Also present at the ceremony were Ms. Chang Yumeng, Counsellor for Cultural Affairs of the Embassy of People’s Republic of China to Thailand, Mr. Tanes Petsuwan, TAT Deputy Governor for International Marketing – Asia and the South Pacific, and Mr. Apichai Chatchalermkit, TAT Deputy Governor of Tourism Products and Business, who is also a Board Member and Acting President of the Thailand Privilege Card Co., Ltd.

Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, TAT Governor, said “Thailand and Hong Kong have always shared strong and sustainable connections, and many Hong Kong people see Thailand as their second home. Today, we are honoured to present the Thailand Privilege Card, Friends of Thailand, and Tourism Authority of Thailand Appreciation Award to the legendary Hong Kong celebrities Ms. Michelle Yim and Mr. Simon Yam Tat Wah, and our biggest influencer, Mr. Roger Wu Wai Chung, in recognition to their remarkable contribution towards Thai tourism and their commitment to bring Thailand and Hong Kong closer. Most importantly, they are committed to making Thai tourism better for everyone.”

The Thailand Privilege Card, Friends of Thailand, and the Tourism Authority of Thailand Appreciation Award were launched to honour outstanding persons who had made distinctive contributions to the Thai community. The honourees were selected as they served as the role models for compassion, service, and making Thailand a better tourism destination.

While everyone loves Ms. Michelle Yim and Mr. Simon Yam Tat Wah‘s artistic talents, their timeless acts of kindness truly made an impact on Thai tourism. They stood by Thailand during the hardships and leveraged their powerful influences and voices to raise awareness and bring the Hong Kong community to pray for those in need in Thailand. In addition, they believe Thailand is a safe, blessed, and beautiful tourism destination, inspiring their followers to visit and enjoy Thailand.

Mr. Roger Wu Wai Chung is a true community champion who works exceptionally hard to support Thai tourism. His passionate soul leads him to always be the first to produce exciting and effective viral videos to drive awareness of local Thai tourism news and products. For decades, his Thailandfans platform was the ultimate guidebook for many Hong Kong tourists. Throughout the years, he shared hundreds of beautiful Thai stories with authentic content that actively engage and inspire a wide spectrum of audiences to fall in love with Thailand.

At the Chinatown Chinese New Year 2023 celebrations at Yaowarat Road in Bangkok, an ongoing exhibition of the celeb-trio at the TAT’s booth praises their contributions to Thai Tourism. H.E. Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Tourism and Sports, Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, TAT Governor, and Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, were on stage to open the event. The three celebrities were invited to celebrate the joyful moments together with the Thai community in the spirit of the Chinese New Year.
