Six gamblers arrested in Chonburi, accused of offending the emergency decree

Chonburi-

Six gamblers have been arrested over alleged offenses to the Thai emergency decree yesterday (January 26th).

The Chonburi Police was notified of the alleged gambling via a LINE official application and website ‘Gambling Report’ after a tip came in from what was described as a “concerned citizen afraid of the potential spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus.”

At 4:30 P.M. The Panat Nikhom Police, responding to the tip, raided a house in the Sa Si Leam sub-district.

Six gamblers had reportedly been arrested while they were playing illegal card games.

They are facing charges of playing illegal gambling games and gathering in small place which offends the emergency decree. Penalties for the violation of this law, in effect due to the Covid-19 situation in Thailand, are strict with high fines and potential jail time.
