Taxi motorbike driver and passenger seriously injured after colliding with sedan while taking illegal U-turn in Chonburi

Chonburi-

A taxi motorbike driver and his passenger have sustained serious injuries after being hit by a sedan at a no U-turn area in Mueang Chonburi.

Rescue workers were notified of the accident yesterday afternoon (October 30th) on Sukhumvit Road in the Samet sub-district.

They arrived at the scene to find a damaged motorbike crashed in front of a damaged sedan.

Two injured people were found on the road who were named as Mr. Wicahi Panit, 45, a taxi motorbike driver and her female passenger aged around 40 who was unconscious. They were rushed to a local hospital for medical assistance.

A witness, Mr. Noppadon Boonpang, 28, told rescue workers that “I saw the motorbike was taking a U-turn at a no U-turn area before the car crashed into the motorbike.”

The taxi motorbike driver hit the sedan glass while his passenger hit the road.

The sedan driver, Ms Phontip, told police “I was unable to avoid the collision with the motorbike.”

“I have sustained only very minor injuries as airbags in my sedan saved me.” She added.

However, police are continuing their investigation for further potential legal action.
