Pattaya motorbike taxi driver shot dead in broad daylight behind Pattaya school

A motorbike taxi driver was shot dead after dropping his passenger off at noon today in South Pattaya.

Lieutenant Colonel Tammanchit Sitthisart of the Pattaya City Police was notified of the incident just before noon in Soi 17 at the back of the Mueang Pattaya School 8, near the Walking Street area.

Police, emergency responders and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find the body of Mr. Prathum Saartnak, 47 who was a number four motorbike taxi driver stationed at the Bali Hai Plaza.

His body was still on the ground next to his fallen motorbike when reporters arrived with Pattaya Police. A crowd of shocked bystanders stood nearby.

A single bullet wound was found to have pierced his eye through his head. A bullet shell was found nearby. His body was taken to a local hospital and family members were contacted regarding the incident.

Ms. Paruesada Klabphong, 28, told The Pattaya News that she had just come back from Koh Larn on a several day holiday.

She took the taxi motorbike service from Prathum at Bali Hai Pier to the back of the school.

She heard the sound of a gunshot after she had just got off the motorbike taxi.

She told The Pattaya News she turned back and saw that the motorbike taxi driver had been shot dead. She claims she did not see the shooter or notice anyone following Mr. Prathum.

Pattaya police will continue an investigation to find the suspect, who is still at large and unidentified. CCTV will be reviewed in the area to help determine the sequence of events.
