An 88 year old man driving a motorbike sidecar in Phanat Nikhom, Chonburi, survived an accident with a ten wheeler truck with minor injuries yesterday morning.
The motorbike driver, Mr. Chamnong Ketkaew, was driving on Phanat Nikhom-Chachoengsao Road near Village Number Five at 11:00 AM yesterday morning, Saturday, July 25th, when the accident took place.
A ten wheel truck driven by Mr. Suthon Pueesanthia, 55, hit Mr. Chamnong from behind, causing his motorbike sidecar to flip onto its side and sending Chamnong onto the pavement. Chamnong suffered only minor injuries and walked away from the accident, although accepted a medical checkup at a local hospital. Mr. Suthon was uninjured.
Suthon told The Pattaya News that Mr. Chamnong had allegedly cut in front of him to attempt to get to an upcoming U-turn without warning. Suthon claimed he was unable to break in time and hit Chamnong at a decent speed.
Lt. Jirayut Khokkhuni, Deputy Inspector of Investigation, Phanat Nikhom Provincial Police Station, was assigned to investigate the incident and will interview both parties to determine fault when Chamnong is released from the hospital. Jirayut told the associated press at the accident scene that Chamnong was very, very lucky to have survived the accident at his age and with the speed involved.
