Songkran 2018 to be 5 day National Holiday

National Holiday from April 12th until April 16th.

National-

Songkran 2018 has been announced by Prime Minister General Prayut Chan O-Cha to be a five day national holiday from April 12th to April 16th. This is a one day extension from the prior years.

This has been done to accommodate the many Thai’s who go home to visit family for the New Year celebration in Thailand and also to ensure that road safety and public order is carefully controlled.

For those staying here in Pattaya, keep in mind the official dates are the same as always-The 13th until the 19th, with the 19th being the “Big Day” in which the entire city essentially shuts down to enjoy the Thai new year. If you are visiting or in town keep in mind from as early as the 11th or 12th you are likely to get wet traveling around town.
